Georgetown - The Syariah High Court to allow the trial of seclusion Deputy Secretary General (Strategic) Ministry of Youth and Sports, Datuk Salim Parlan, 51, a former personal assistant, Nur Diayana Norslan, 30, continued.

Salim and Nur Diayana arrested in a three-star hotel in Batu Feringghi last April by a team of enforcement of Islamic Religious Affairs Department of Penang (JHEAIPP) who is on a vice-prevention operations around 4am.

Judge, Mohammad Zamri Roslan made the decision after allowing the application of Syariah Prosecutor General, Mohd Aziz Zulkhairi to review and made the court's suspension of the trial proceedings, which runs close proximity in the lower courts revoked.

Mohd Zulkhairi said it was due to a notice he received from Salim on September 9 last through syarie lawyer Datuk Zainul Rijal Abu Bakar, who informed him they were withdrawing the review.

However, both the accused and lawyers are not present in court yesterday.

June 21 last, Salim submit the revision is not satisfied after the Syariah Subordinate Court Judge, Nik Nik Yahya Bukhari Hashimy allowing the trial to continue despite his close proximity with other cases in the Subordinate Court of Kuala Lumpur.

Mohammad Zamri, and set yesterday to hear arguments and Mohd Zainul Rijal Zulkhairi before determining whether the lower court decision is correct or not in accordance with law.

He said the review would like to be withdrawn and the accused, the court allowed an application by the prosecution to cancel the check.

In addition, the court allowed them to revoke the suspension of the application made by this court against the lower court proceedings against the two accused.

"Thus, the trial of this close proximity will continue," he said.

Mohd Zulkhairi then informed that he would write a letter to the Islamic court in the near future for a date for hearing the case.

Salim, who before assuming the position of Deputy Director General of Road Transport Department (JPJ) has been charged under Section 27 (a) Syariah Criminal Enactment 1996 Penang while Nur Diayana charged under Section 27 (b) enactment of the same.

If convicted, each defendant can be fined a maximum of RM3, 000 or imprisonment not exceeding two years or to both.

Meanwhile, Zainul Rijal, when contacted, said it had sent a notice to the Islamic court here to notify the withdrawal from the Salim advocate.
