Initial reports found that the ice cubes are the root cause of food poisoning that caused a 11-year-old student died after a breaking of fast food purchased at a Ramadan bazaar in Kuala Lumpur earlier this month.
Tests on samples of vomit and excrement waste to identify the causes of food poisoning that causes the Five Year National School (SK) Sungai Binjai, Klang died and eight other family, sought treatment at Hospital Tengku Ampuan Rahimah.
"Based on early reports, the ice cubes is the cause of food poisoning," said Health Minister Datuk Liow Tiong Lai was quoted by Bernama Online.
"We are still undergoing a thorough investigation to identify the source and the actual resources that cause the victim and other family members have food poisoning," he told reporters at the Putrajaya Hospital here.
On August 9, Nurdini Mohamad Ali, 11, died after vomiting and diarrhea after a meal breaking the fast while the family was hospitalized after suffering the same symptoms.
All were found to be eating food brains and ice plus purchased from the Ramadan bazaar.
Liow advised people to seek treatment if symptoms of food poisoning.
"Do not the grace to seek treatment if you have food poisoning. We have the experts and if treated early, we can deliver, "he said.
